The game's plot still revolves around a guy named Artem, who grew up underground. Previously, the hero has never gone outside and never seen the outside world, but fate is unpredictable and sometimes gives incredible surprises. Now you and Artem will have to travel to the depths of the Moscow subway to find underground cities of people who survived after the apocalypse, meet a huge number of characters, including friends, enemies, and not only have to shoot at the heart of the monsters lurking in the depths of the subway. 

The gameplay and storyline have not changed, but the appearance of the game in this version has been transformed beyond recognition. The game itself was transferred to the new graphics engine "4A Engine", which gave the developers an opportunity to transform the surrounding world, so on top of that the textures, lighting, animation, characters' appearance, and even weapons were redesigned.

In addition, you will now find improved physics, dynamic weather, improved destruction physics, improved enemy AI, and redesigned stealth mechanics in this installment. 

And now you can play in two new modes. The first mode is called "Survival", and involves the survival of the player in difficult conditions, when the monsters are getting stronger, the reloading of weapons is slower, and the resources are very limited. The second mode is called "Spartan". And also there is a new mode "Ranger", which turns off the HUD interface.
