A racing video game is a genre of first- or third-person computer games in which the player participates in a racing competition among land, water, air, or space vehicles. The basis of these competitions can be some real-life racing series, or they can take place in a completely fictional setting. In general, a racing game can be a computer game of any genre, from highly realistic car simulators to relatively simple arcade racing games. Racing games can also fall into the category of sports games.
